It has a fair cast but has a tendency to follow the string;this is an old term used when referring to a bow that does notrecover its original shape when unbraced. When dried out inheated houses over winter, they become somewhat brittleand are liable to break. Lemonwood bows should be stored inan unheated attic, shed, or garage over winter. Lemonwoodcontains no resin and bows made from it cannot be reflexed.Since it is a tropical wood, it has evolved no qualities to with-stand cold weather. Such bows lose cast in cold weather andare very apt to break.

Lemonwood stands up well under compression but is notso good for stretch. Nearly all fractures start in the back ofthese bows. An excellent bow can be made from this woodby reinforcing the back with a tougher material such as a stripof hickory 1/8 inch thick or fibre glass.
