Until this term is stated by some symbol that is generallyunderstood and accepted, the archer will have to depend on
the recommendations of the makers in selecting his purchases.
The oil companies had just such a problem. They had toevolve a symbol that denoted the thickness or viscosity oftheir product. As a result, the motorist will ask for SAE 30,SAE 20, SAE 40, etc. He may not know what it is all aboutbut he does know what to ask for when he needs oil.
The archer will be better served when he can call for adozen arrows 26 inches long, 290 grain weight, and X42 spine,which would probably be abbreviated to "26-290-X42."
