Fig. 24B is called a bodkin head. It gets its name from thebodkin points of the 1400's which were invented and usedby the English archers who were able to penetrate coats ofmail with them to the consternation of the knights.
The bodkin has three cutting edges instead of two as ap-pears on the broadhead. The bodkin is also a fabricatedproduct, being formed sections welded together; this has be-come quite popular during the last two years.
There are other designs including heads with four and evensix cutting edges. Some archers make great claims for thesemultibladed heads. But they have not as yet reached the stageof popularity as to become known as standard armour.
