Yes, the bow hunter, in order to be successful, must be a better woodsman than his brother with the rifle. The rifleman needs only to get within 75 or 100 yards of the deer; the bow hunter must approach three times as close.
The bow hunter must know many things which include how to dress, how to walk, how to look, how to listen, how to stand still, how to recognize deer tracks, how to read signs, how to trail, what the deer feed on, know the country where he hunts, know wind directions, know where he is, have a sense of direction, how to read a compass and many other things.
