It is now time to nock the arrow. The bow is in the lefthand at the archer's left side with the back down and thestring up. With the right hand grasp an arrow between thethumb and forefinger and remove it from the quiver. At thesame time swing the left hand upward to waist height withwrist up, thus bringing the bow horizontally before you. Now,place the arrow across the bow near the center. Some goodarchers place the arrow under the string and over the bowwhile others place it over both bow and string. It does notmake any difference which method is used so long as it is donewithout effort or distraction of thought. The fingers of theright hand then adjust the arrow correctly on the string withthe cock feather pointing upward. Steady the arrow on thebow with the thumb or first finger of the bow hand while theright hand is being placed on the string for the draw. We willassume that you are using a shooting tab and that it has pre-viously been fitted on the right hand. The right hand isturned with palm up and placed under the string and broughtup to it where the arrow nock is fitted in the tab's slot thusplacing the nock between the first and second fingers. Bothhands are then lowered to a comfortable position. The leftside is still toward the target. We are now ready to begin thedraw.
