will be mostly shirt sleeve weather. To those who expect tohunt during this time of year, a good lemonwood bow backedwith fibre-glass or fortisan is a good choice. If, however, theseason during which you expect to hunt will run into De-cember, especially in the northern tier of states, a well madehickory bow would be a wise choice. While hickory does nothave the cast of lemonwood, it does have qualities that willhold it together in very cold weather, qualities which lemon-wood lacks.
If, however, you feel that you want something better andare willing to invest any reasonable amount in buying a bow,you have a somewhat wider range as to choice. It will prob-ably boil down to a choice between osage orange and a lami-nated product. It would be well to look for a properly de-signed recurved bow no matter what material you choose.The reader may refer back to the chapter on bows and re-view the principle of the recurved bow where this was dis-cussed at some length.*
