The quiver should be large enough to hold a dozen or morearrows. The western pattern shown in Fig. 26a is a good oneand very popular. It should be made from a soft leather witha stiffener in the back to prevent collapsing. If made fromhard leather it is apt to be noisy.

Finger tabs are preferred to gloves if the archer can useone without causing pain to the fingers; otherwise, get aglove. The wise archer will also include two extra bow strings,

a cake of string wax, some serving cord (6 thread cuttyhunkfishing line is excellent), a stick of ferrule cement, a tube ofcellulous cement, a compact first aid kit, a pair of smallpliers (long nosed) and a 6 inch flat mill file. Carry a stoutknife, either medium size belt type hunting knife or a pocketknife with at least one good sized blade—and see that they aresharp. All these items can be carried in the "possibles" pocketon the quiver. Of course one must have an arm guard.
