Shovel some soil in front of the structure highenough to cover up and hide the front edge of the plat-form. This will protect low arrows from being broken.
Secure a stout brace in the back to keep the targetfrom falling over.
It would be well to cover the target with burlap and sewit securely; this will prevent loose straw from littering up therange. This target will last for several years if one will protectit from wet weather by using an old tarpaulin. Either cloth orpaper faces may be used. When bale No. 2 gets too much shotup, it may be changed with bale No. 5.
The shooting stations are then measured and marked withstakes driven in the ground. Keep the grass mowed from theshooting line to the target and for a space of 75 feet to 100feet behind it. Wild arrows have a peculiar habit of snakingalong the sod and, if the grass is not cut short, they are verydifficult to find.
