Yes, he knew where the deer were feeding. He knew justabout when they would begin to drift over the trail to the bed-ding grounds because he had watched them from a strategicposition through his glasses for the past two days. He knewthat this group consisted of two fawns, three doe, and a prettygood buck.

He knew that the feeding ground was an old orchardlocated on a bench at the head of Mink run. They wouldprobably feed there for several days as there were plenty ofapples both on the trees and on the ground. He knew thatthey would feed there until around 9 o'clock. So, he hadplanned to try to sneak up to them and try for a shot at thebuck.
