WHEN THERE IS SNOW
This chapter, so far, is written on the premise that thehunting is done during the fall before the snows come. Ibelieve that, with so many states having special bow huntingseasons during the mid fall, fully 85% of the hunting will bedone during that time. There are, however, some states thathave not favored the bow hunter with a forward season. Inthese states the bow hunter must take his chances with fire-arms hunters, and the seasons for gun hunters are much later, usually in early December. We can expect snow at that timeof the year, especially in those regions lying north of theMason Dixon line. New York's bow season is the two weeksprior to the firearms date, during which some snow is to beexpected. Archers may also hunt in Pennsylvania along withthe riflemen, which is early December. Michigan has a verylong bow season, which extends into the time of year thatsnow can be expected.
