The true sportsman has the same inner conviction when hehas wounded a deer. He feels that it is his responsibility totrack down that wounded animal, come hell or high waters.

The bow hunter can usually see where he hits a deer. If it isin the chest cavity, he has nothing much to worry about. Thevictim is doomed to die within a few minutes from hemor-rhage and lung collapse; it should not be hard to find. If, how-ever, he sees his arrow enter the abdomen, he knows that hehas a job on his hands. The victim may require a long timeto die; it is capable of traveling a long distance before itsuccumbs. Hits in the brisket, legs, or haunch usually meanclean flesh wounds that will heal without any bad lastingresults.
