Roll the deer over with belly down hill, if possible, and rollthe intestines out; they will clear the carcass without muchforce. Drag the carcass near the sapling previously located.Bend the sapling down, trim off the limbs and cut off the top.Attach the antlers to the sapling; the resistance of the bentpole will raise the carcass partially off the ground.

Cut two poles, about as thick as the forearm, and trim thebranches but leave a fork or Y at the upper ends. Place theseforks under the bent sapling, near the deer's head, thus form-

ing a tripod. By alternately lifting one prop then the other,the deer can be raised high enough to clear the ground.
