There has been a lot of controversy concerning the methodof hanging a deer. Some say that the deer should be hung withthe head down, and others say the head should be up. The animal will drainbetter and, if it rains, the hair will shed the water better whilethe chest cavity will not collect water.
Let the carcass drain for a while; then dry it out the bestyou can with leaves, moss or what other agents can be found.Cut a stick to a length of some 12 to 15 inches and sharpenboth ends. Spread the carcass open and insert the stick in sucha manner that the inside walls do not touch. This will allowfree air circulation and will assist in drying the inside walls.
